Bashar Nuseibeh Editorial
Editor-in-Chief, IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering (TSE)

"Recognizing the need for timeliness of publication and the environmentally friendly opportunities provided by online publication, TSE will be moving to a “mostly online” mode of delivery in 2013. Through IEEE Computer Society’s OnlinePlus, TSE papers will not only be available online as soon as they are accepted for publication, they will also be packaged as an electronic offering as the default form of subscription. This will be accompanied by a quarterly 6 inch by 9 inch digest in hardcopy, containing paper details— including titles, authors, abstracts, and citation information—and a disk containing the PDF version of the papers and supplemental material. Readers wishing to continue to receive hardcopies of the full journal can do so for an additional subscription fee, using a print-on-demand service."

The opportunity of being a student member

For centuries, humans have created communities to share and contribute towards common goals. Since prehistory these communities had successfully evolved in the societies of today, small and large as well.
From the point of view of a student, being part of the community it brings enormous opportunities in the development of the research and the road ahead. Moreover, is an opportunity that goes in both ways: on one hand you take advantage of common knowledge, experiences, wisdom, resources and all the elements inside the common area of the community. On the other hand, you become an active agent of collaboration, your intellectual resources, and why not your physical resources as well. These societies, gather people from all around the world with different interests, areas of specialty, skill, and ideals, to share and contribute towards the advances of the software engineering and we can't miss the opportunity of being part of it.

The Evolution Problem:

Devices, environment, infrastructure, web services,
business goals, user expectations …
all evolve over time
— thus, software must evolve.
